Moor Monkton Village Association

This is the home of the Moor Monkton Village Association (MMVA).

The objectives of the Association are laid out in the constitution in more detail (see below) but in essence, its aim is to improve the village generally, promote social activities, foster community relations and to raise money for worthy causes within the village.

The Parish Council has its remit to fulfil and the Richard Kay Charityworks hard to sustain the Old School Room and we fully support its endeavours.

However, we see that there may well be other good causes and areas of the village that could benefit from funding and activities.

We feel that the Association should comprise of and be run by members of the village who want to play an active part in making Moor Monkton an even better place to live.

e-mail mmva@moormonkton.com if you wish to get involved.

Fishing Competition Report

Great fun was had by young and the “not so young” alike at our first Family Fun Fishing day on 4th June.

Thanks to all at Moor Monkton Ponds especially Stan, Barbara and all the anglers who generously sponsored the day, and gave their time and expertise.

Some very fine catches were had, with stiff competition amongst all - novices and youngsters! There were some enthusiastic young converts to the noble art!

The weather smiled on us all day, and the secluded location on our doorstep is in such a beautiful setting.

The biggest single catch was 9lb and the biggest total individual haul weighed in at an impressive 19lb. The biggest fish landed by a child was a whopping 7lb!

No prizes for guessing who landed only tiddlers!

Splendid ceramic trophies, individually crafted by Ann Johnson will be treasured by winners in all classes and especially by the children who had a great day they will never forget!

Thanks again for everyone who supported this fantastic event.
