Moor Monkton is a small, rural village in the plain of York. It is about 5 miles West of York city centre, down a quiet back-road and sat on the confluence of the Rivers Nidd and Ouse. For the millennium, we received a National Lottery grant and now have a smart, refurbished hall and a thriving village social life, with clubs and Societies meeting regularly. There are many small businesses based in the village and we have a quaint old church.
In 1982, the Moor Monkton Village History Committee published a book about the village and its history. A number of copies are still available priced at £10, posted to a UK address. The proceeds are donated to village funds.
